It was exactly 20 years ago when I walked into a small real estate appraisal office in Roanoke, Virginia. At the time, I had a real estate salesperson license and had represented a few homebuyers in Blacksburg. But I quickly realized that there was much more to real estate than Sunday open houses and radon inspections. It was a “happy hour vibe,” for sure, but it wasn’t my calling.
Residential appraising wasn’t the answer either. So, in March of that same year, I turned my attention to commercial appraisals. After completing my apprenticeship and obtaining my Certified General license, I joined a mid-sized firm as a staff appraiser. Five years later, in 2012, I founded Austin Appraisal & Consulting and earned my MAI designation in 2013. I spent years crafting comprehensive appraisal reports for banks, attorneys, estates, and institutional clients.
In 2016, I expanded my business further by opening Double A Auction & Realty. Over time, Double A Auction & Realty absorbed Austin Appraisal & Consulting, transforming into a full-service real estate firm offering auction services, brokerage, and appraisal expertise.
